James McAvoy was born in 1979 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. McAvoy lived in Scotstoun until he was seven, before going to live with his grandparents in Drumchapel. Now lives in London, England since 2000. His sister is Joy McAvoy (who is 22), a singer in the Scottish girl group Streetside. When McAvoy was seven, his parents split up and the young James was sent to live nearby with his grandparents, James and Mary Johnstone, while his sister stayed with her mohter. He doesn't see his father at all - the last time he saw him, he was 13. James graduated from the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2000 Worked as a baker during two years in Sainsbury. Has dated Anne Marie Duff for almost 9 months. He split up with the scottish actress, Emma Neilson, 23 at that time.
